Olivera Olja Jelkić marked the end of a successful year with friends

Renowned writer Olivera Olja Jelkić celebrated the end of another successful year on December 30, 2024, in the wine room of Restaurant “Brioni,” surrounded by friends. This informal gathering was an opportunity to honor her significant achievement – the Lifetime Achievement Charter awarded by the Association of Writers of Serbia.

During the evening, Sandra Štetina spoke about Jelkić’s literary work, highlighting the depth and universality of her creations. Štetina also read several excerpts from Jelkić’s novels, reminding attendees of the emotional power and literary value of her oeuvre.

The author herself addressed her friends and colleagues, expressing gratitude for the support and inspiration she draws from her surroundings. Jelkić emphasized that the past years had been special and filled with creative accomplishments, with the Lifetime Achievement Charter being a particularly meaningful recognition for her.

The author added in her address, “The impression that I create can be deceiving, so I am no longer sure whether I am giving or receiving. Whatever the case, I am grateful to each of my books for choosing me to write it.”
